The Scottish Goverment & Sopra Group Nominated In Best Project – Government To Government Category

Shortlistings for this year's GC Awards have just been announced and The Scottish Government, in conjunction with Sopra Group, has been listed as a finalist in the Best Project – Government to Government Category for work on the Scottish Criminal Justice Board Management Information (MI) Project.

The GC awards were established in 1996 to celebrate the best and most innovative work in the development and delivery of information-age services to citizens or businesses within the public sector.  The awards are open to any public sector IT project and competition is stiff as entries come from some of the top names in IT and their public sector partners.  In the Government to Government category judges were looking for projects that demonstrated the following: collaboration and team working (both within internal teams and across organisations); value for money; clear benefits to end users; and effective joined-up working between at least two organisations.

The Scottish National Criminal Justice Board, which collaborates with eleven Local Boards, was created in 2003 to provide for efficient joint working and oversight of the performance of the system. Sopra Group delivered a bespoke scorecard-based management system to the Scottish National Criminal Justice Board and its eleven partners, which helped to simplify and speed up information sharing and led to true partnership working.  A key project requirement, which further added to its complexity, was that the front-end interface needed to be driven by user needs and preferences, and as a result both local and national end users were involved in every stage of the project.

Ann Budge, CEO of Sopra Group commented:

"We have a long history of working in partnership with, and delivering high-quality IT solutions to, a wide variety of public sector organisations.  We are delighted that this complex and important project has been recognised through a GC Award nomination."
