We are delighted to announce that The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association (Guide Dogs) has chosen Sopra Group to design, develop and support their new Guide Dogs Interactive system. This significant project sees a number of disparate manual and IT systems being replaced with an integrated solution based on Microsoft .NET technology.
Guide Dogs Interactive will assist in continuing to drive efficiency within Guide Dogs by streamlining current processes and improving communication with clients. It will track and record the status of guide dogs throughout their lifespan, including medical issues and their association with volunteers and clients. With nearly 4800 Guide Dog Partnerships to manage at any one time, the new system will provide the organisation with vital reports to support key decisions in the dog's progression, the client's progression and the partnership of the two.
Talking about the project Stephen Kirk, Operations Director of Guide Dogs said "This project represents a significant investment for us and we chose Sopra Group due to their breadth of technical skills and extensive experience in successfully delivering large-scale projects. Best value is always at the forefront of our choices and Sopra Group gave us the additional opportunity to benefit from developing part of the project offshore."
Steve Kenny, Public Sector Development Manager with Sopra Group, said "This is an exciting project which will have a huge impact on the day-to-day operations within Guide Dogs. We have been working in partnership with the organisation to design a comprehensive solution and look forward to seeing the benefits it brings to their valuable work in helping transform the lives of blind and partially-sighted people through the independence that a guide dog provides."
